Support the Writer's Colony & Fund a Fellowship
We appreciate the time, treasure, and talent contributed by volunteers to help the board and staff fulfill the mission of the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow. We want to say a special Thank You to our past and current volunteers, and invite others to join our expanding Colony family. Our volunteers continue to make this colony experience unforgettable.
Contributions can be made in many forms:

- Planned gifts

- Gifts of real estate or items that can be easily sold.
There are several important points to understand when making a gift:
- All contributions to the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) are tax deductible. Once your gift has been received, we will send you a receipt for your tax records.
- You can sponsor various aspects of the Institute campus and programs. A complete list of these named opportunities is available from the director.
- Contributions to name an area should be designated as such in the memo line of your check and/or on your pledge form.
- Contributions may also be made to either CAI or WCDH for support of programs, purchase of materials, as memorial or to honor someone special.
Please call the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow office at, 479-253-7444, or e-mail director@writerscolony.org.

Our Request For Fellowships
Fellowships support individuals in need of financial assistance to pursue the development and/or advancement of their creative endeavor. They may be writing a play, composing a musical score, just about to finish their children's book, or just starting to flush out the twist in their latest mystery novel. Many writers can barely afford the precious time away to focus on their project let alone afford expenses to do so. Yet - they know without that time and opportunity - their story may forever remain untold.
Fellowships fund up to one month per year, paid room and board at the Colony, for one writer in a field designated by the fellowship donor. Typically, the fellowship recipient is responsible for paying their own transportation costs to and from WCDH unless the donor wishes to include a travel stipend.
Current Fellowships are offered in the fields of culinary (Duncan Eat-Write), environment/nature (Moondancer), children/youth (Mahoney KidLit), and fiber arts (FabFiberArts).
We have an open list of requests for fellowships that we would like to offer focusing on: Social justice, memoirs, LGBT issues, play writing, architecture, digital storytelling, and composing/songwriting.
In addition, we encourage funders to follow their passion and to help us create new fellowship ideas. We can work with you to design a fellowship customized to specific genre, or focus within a genre, of your choice. The fellowship funder names the fellowship.
Fellowship levels are:
Two week Fellowship: $2,500.00
Three week Fellowship: $4,000.00
One month Fellowship: $5,000.00
All donations are tax deductible for income and estate purposes.
The process: Once the fellowship is determined and guidelines are written, WCDH posts the opportunity on our website and promotes the fellowship through our local, regional, national and international publicity network, a variety of social networks, through targeted organizations, associations and publications, and distributed among our extensive alumni and "Friends of the Colony" blogs and groups.
Once applications are received, they are juried by one delegate of the funders choice, one member of the WCDH Board of Directors, and one member at-large familiar with the fellowship genre. The jury recommends the top two applicants with final selection awarded by the funder.
If possible, we encourage the funder to meet the fellow for a dinner at The Colony upon their arrival. At that time, WCDH will take publicity pictures for nationally distributed press releases.
We appreciate your consideration of our request and will answer any other questions you may have about WCDH or our fellowship program.
By funding a fellowship, you will be giving the greatest gift possible for promoting literacy, encouraging creative expression, and supporting the arts. And you will have a lifetime fellow for a friend.
We look forward to working with you on a Writers Colony Fellowship.
