DESCRIPTION:Join us for the final Poetluck of the season with featured guest Jack Albert. A long-time Eureka Springs resident\, poet\, restaurateur\, and self-described justice junky\, Jack grew up a Philly boy and has lived many lives since\, from New York City to the Ozarks. His culinary hotspots\, from a macrobiotic restaurant on the Lower East Side in the 1970s to a hole-in-the-wall eatery and gallery that became a tourist attraction\, have been the scenes for artistic\, holistic\, and political camaraderie (and no shortage of offbeat characters). \nJack’s poetry has surfaced in small press publications over the years\, shaped in part by his time in the East Village\, where he worked for and was mentored by Allen Ginsberg\, who became like a brother to him. He spent those years among the remnants of the Beat Generation\, and he was also one of the featured artists in the 2015 documentary “Eureka\, The Art of Being\,” a celebration of the town’s lively art scene. Through his work\, Jack explores the intersections of writing\, mindfulness\, and mindlessness\, putting his own quirky twist in the middle of it all. You can read more of his poetry at eMerge Magazine. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share. Following Jack’s reading\, the open mic segment invites participants to share original creative pieces (poems\, short prose\, essays\, or songs)\, up to 5 minutes each\, in a warm\, supportive room. \nThis event is FREE and open to the public.
