DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of food\, community\, and poetry. \n\n5:30–6:00 PM — Food and drink\n6:00–6:30 PM — Announcements and featured reader\n6:30–8:00 PM — Open mic\n\nBring a dish to share\, bring a poem to read\, or just bring yourself. All are welcome. This event is free and open to the public. \nAbout Janice Francis-Smith \nJanice Francis-Smith is a writer\, poet\, and singer-songwriter based in Oklahoma City. After two dozen years as a news reporter and fifteen journalism awards for her work\, she now serves as Managing Editor of The Black Chronicle newspaper in Oklahoma City. \nShe has been a Woody Guthrie Poet three times\, and her work appears in the anthology Ain’t Gonna Be Treated This Way\, published by Village Books Press. She is also a longtime co-coordinator of the Last Sunday Poetry reading at Full Circle Bookstore. \nAs a songwriter\, Janice has performed at The Walnut Valley Festival\, The Woody Guthrie Festival\, and the Kerrville Folk Festival\, along with some of the premier listening rooms in the country\, including the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville\, the Bitter End in New York City\, Eddie’s Attic in Decatur\, Georgia\, and the Blue Door in Oklahoma City. \nShe has produced four full-length albums and picked up several songwriting accolades along the way\, including a Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest Honorable Mention\, first place in the Walnut Valley Songwriting Showcase\, and a Posi Award from emPower Music & Arts. \nLearn more about Janice and her music at janicefrancissmith.com or follow her on Facebook. \n

DESCRIPTION:This month\, we are excited to have the opportunity to highlight some of the brightest young talent in our region. Join us for an inspiring evening featuring students from Clear Spring School as they share their original poetry and fresh perspectives\, continuing a long tradition of creative collaboration between our organizations. \nFollowing our featured student readers\, the floor opens to the community. Whether you arrive with a dish to share\, a poem to read\, or simply a desire to listen\, there is a seat at the table for you. \nPoetluck is about connection between neighbors\, artists\, and across generations of creativity. Featuring students from Clear Spring School underscores this spirit of intergenerational connection\, whether you come to support young writers\, read your own latest work\, or simply listen and enjoy a shared meal. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share. The featured student readings will take place immediately following dinner starting at 6:00 PM\, followed by the open mic segment\, where participants have up to 5 minutes each to share original creative pieces in a supportive environment. \nThis event is FREE and open to the public. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the final Poetluck of the season with featured guest Jack Albert. Long time Eureka Springs resident\, restaurateur\, poet\, and self-described justice junky\, Jack has appeared in many formats throughout the decades. He’s most known for his culinary hotspots\, which have been the scenes for artistic\, holistic\, and political comradery from New York City to Northwest Arkansas. \nHis poetry has surfaced here and there in small press publications covering a wide range of topics\, including his friendships with Allen Ginsberg and other intriguing characters. Through his work\, Jack explores the intersections of writing\, mindfulness\, and mindlessness\, putting his own quirky twist in the middle of it all.
