WCDH will host Meet the StoryMaker on Saturday, December 4, in the Highlander Room at the Eureka Springs Community Center from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Local and visiting authors have donated signed copies of their books, which will be raffled off along with other items to benefit the WCDH scholarship fund. Two baskets will be raffled, each valued at $350 with over twelve books and other items including a certificate for a European-style gourmet dinner at WCDH prepared by Chef Jana and enjoyed with writers-in-residence from across the country.
Writers participating in Meet the StoryMaker include Woody Barlow, Catherine Buercklin, Lea Ann Crisp, Harrie Farrow, Sean Fitzgibbon, Mariellen Griffith, Nancy Hartney, Laura Matson Hahn, Tony Kendrew, Ruth Mitchell, Peggy Perry-Hill, Keith Scales, Zeek Taylor, Wendy Taylor Carlisle, Charles Templeton, John Two-Hawks, Ashley Wellman, and Cheri White. Each basket will also include a copy of the Dairy Hollow Echo, the recently published, best-selling anthology of work from eMerge, the online literary magazine of WCDH. The anthology features 107 stories, poems, essays, and other creative work by 87 authors.
The drawing will occur at 2:00 pm on December 4. The winner does not need to be present. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five and may be purchased at the event, online here, or at WCDH during office hours. Proceeds benefit the WCDH scholarship fund, established in December 2019, to assist emerging writers and amplify marginalized voices. Through the generosity of WCDH supporters, over $14,000 of financial aid has been awarded to 32 writers who would have otherwise been unable to attend a writing residency at WCDH.
