Event Details
Event Description
Join us for May Poetluck, welcoming featured reader Bill McCloud — poet, editor, and veteran advocate whose work has reached readers from Oklahoma to the Air Force Academy.
Bill McCloud serves as associate poetry editor for Right Hand Pointing literary journal and as poetry reviewer for Vietnam Veterans of America. His second collection, The Error of the Stars (Silence Dogood Books / Sewell Publishing, Eureka Springs, AR), was a Top 25 Amazon Bestseller in three poetry categories. His earlier collection, The Smell of the Light (Balkan Press), reached #1 on The Oklahoman‘s Oklahoma Bestsellers list.
McCloud’s poetry is taught at Austin Community College, the University School of Milwaukee, the University of Tulsa, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. In 2023, he claimed first place in three separate poetry contests — with three different poems.
Poetluck is a beloved community gathering that brings writers, readers, and literary enthusiasts together in a warm and welcoming environment. The evening begins with a potluck meal at 6:00 PM, followed by open mic readings at 6:30 PM. Guests are invited to bring a dish to share if they wish, though it is not required.
Writers of all genres and experience levels are encouraged to participate in the open mic and share poetry, prose, or works-in-progress. Readers are kindly asked to prepare a piece no longer than 3–5 minutes in length.
Poetluck offers a supportive space to connect, listen, and celebrate the written word in community.
This event is free and open to the public.
