About Our Residency Program
The WCDH residency program is for writers and artists of all genres and experience levels. Residencies can be planned anywhere from three days to three months, any time of year.
The colony has eight individual writing suites, each with a bedroom, private bath, dedicated writing area, Wi-Fi, a/c, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. Residents enjoy chef-prepared dinners Monday through Friday, served family-style in our welcoming Great Room — one of the highlights of life at the Colony. A stocked kitchen is available for breakfast, lunch, and late-night snacks.
The first step in applying for a residency is to complete the residency application (a writing sample and bio required). You do not need to be published or a seasoned writer. You need only to come ready to focus on your craft, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow artists, and experience the magic of WCDH.
Once accepted, you can schedule a residency at any time — no need to reapply for future stays.
A non-refundable $35 application fee is required for first-time applicants.

Scholarships Available
Scholarships Available
We offer a limited number of need-based scholarships to help offset the cost of a residency. Scholarships are open to writers at any level — publication history and experience are not factors. While scholarships can cover a significant portion of residency costs, they do not cover the full amount.
There are no set deadlines, but availability depends on current funding. Scholarship recipients are asked to give back to the WCDH community in a meaningful way — whether that’s hosting a workshop, participating in a reading, or joining a podcast conversation.

Sarah Gray-PanesiThere is something magical and magnetic about this place... it seems to draw pen to paper even, and especially, when the writer least expects it.
Crescent DragonwagonThe Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow is an incubator for creative thought. Writers can come here to find their stories. Not only the stories they come here knowing they want to tell, but the stories beneath that. The stories that have an even greater need to be told.
